Once upon a time, I had dry damaged hair. Wait – it was worse than that even, I had dry damaged BLEACHED hair. I had gone to a salon to get a few highlights in my [then] dark brown hair. After applying the bleach to my hair the hairdresser told me she was going to let it sit for a few minutes and she would be right back. Well, she forgot about me and went for lunch. I began panicking when I was unable to find the hair dresser who was supposed to be doing my hair, and kept asking the other hair stylists there if they knew where she went. Finally, one said that they thought she had left and she would take care of my hair. And that’s when we saw the damage.
My hair was truly in ruin. The bleach had turned my healthy brown hair into a white gummy breakable mess. For months even brushing my hair meant that huge chunks would break off. I had to cut off approx. 4 inches, I couldn’t style my hair, and I was afraid that she had burned my scalp with bleach to the point of no return. Quite the horror story. right?
Well, after that experience I went to a different salon where I found the hair dresser I have been going to since. She was the one who broke the news that I needed to cut off 4 inches, the one who helped nurse my hair back to health, and the one who turned me to some of the best deep conditioning treatments I’ve ever tried.
Now that a few years have passed, my hair is healthier and longer than ever. By using less heat on my hair, going ombre, and investing in great deep conditioners I’ve been able to turn all that horrifying damage around. If you’re struggling with damaged hair than click through as today I am sharing The Best Hair Masks for Dry Damaged Hair!
As someone who has put her hair through the ringer, I know how truly frustrating it is to have dry damaged hair. What I’ve found in these years of hair-trauma is there’s nothing better than a good hair cut and a great conditioner to get your hair back to looking and feeling healthy. Scroll down to find my 7 all-time favourite deep conditioners that helped get my hair to the healthy state its in today!
Moroccan Oil’s Restorative Hair Mask is an intense deep conditioner rich with shea butter, restorative proteins, and argan oil, which
To get the full effect of this conditioner, simply apply it and leave it on your hair for 5-7 minutes. Moroccan Oil notes that during these 5-7 minutes is when the conditioner’s protein component absorbs into your hair and helps reconstruct your hair.
One of my favourite hair care lines to date is Macadamia Natural Oil. Their products are all incredibly hydrating and great for damaged hair, but in particular the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque is one not to miss.
This rich masque provides deep conditioning and nourishment that is so needed by damaged hair. Simply leave this conditioner on for 7 – 10 minutes and you’ll find that your hair feels silky smooth and healthier than ever.
While this entire line is incredible for damaged hair, the L’Oreal Professional Absolut Repair Lipidium Mask takes the cake. This conditioner is filled with Lipids, Ceramides, Lactic Acid and Phyto-Keratin that aim to help sooth + rebuild your damaged hair and create stronger strands.
This conditioner is thick like butter so I personally recommend only using it on the ends of your hair and to be sure to avoid applying it on/near your roots. Simply apply this conditioner to the ends of your hair for 3 – 5 minutes to get the full effects of this conditioner.
I only recently began using this conditioner and I have to say, I am such a fan. I hadn’t really use any Pantene products before, but when I spotted this Rehab Creme deep conditioner I knew I had to give it a shot. This rehab creme is a part of Pantene’s detox line which helps remove buildup and moisturize your hair. The rehab creme has Mosa Mint Oil which helps add more shine and smoothness to your hair. While my hair is no longer damaged, now and again I like to revive it with a deep conditioner. For me, this conditioner has been a bit of a game-changer as it’s both really affordable and also has helped my hair look and feel softer.
This is the perfect masque for those struggling with dry ends. My hair often gets that dry (or as my hair dresser calls it, “crispy”) ends feel and when that happens, I always rush out to grab L’Oreal Professional Mythic Oil Nourishing Masque. This conditioner is heavy and perfect for smoothing and softening damaged hair.
One of my long-time favourite hair care brands is Redken. I started using Redken back in high school – back when all my hair trauma began and I discovered hair dye. Redken Extreme Strength Builder Mask is an intense deep conditioner that aims to rebuild and strengthen your hair. This mask has proteins in it which help create healthier hair. Redken has always been one of my go-to brands as I’ve always found their hair care truly works.
This treatment is great for an extremely intense and deep conditioning treatment making it one of the best hair masks for dry damaged hair. Living Proof says that after 5 conditioning treatments with their Restore Mask Treatment your hair will be 9 times more resistant to breakage. While I can’t attest to that exactly, I can say that this product has made my hair feel and look healthier while also making it feel silky smooth. This product is free of GMOs, Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Dyes, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, Triclosan.
