Top 3 Hair Removal Creams for the Face & Body
When looking at hair removal cream for the face we have many choices making difficult to decide which cream to buy. To make this matter a bit easier I have decided to review 3 products, two of them I have tried and the other one is based on the reviews left by other consumers.
What I would say about hair removal creams for the face is that no matter which brand you use there are common denominators that we must follow. These are:
1. Make sure the product can be used on the face.
2. Always perform a test, prior using the cream, even if you think your skin is not the sensitive type.
3. To avoid undesired side effects such as burns, redness and irritation follow the manufacturer's instructions.
4. Use the cream at night, to allow the skin time to heal in case of any side effect.
5. Always apply a shooting cream after removing facial hair.
6. Avoid hot water, instead remove using tepid water.
7. If possible avoid rubbing the skin, instead use enough product to cover the area, let it work and remove using plenty of water.
8. Experimenting with time can yield better results, but never leave it longer than recommended.
1. Surgi cream Hair Remover Extra Gentle Formula for Face
This hair remover cream is aimed to those with sensitive skin; the formula is mild so it won't burn the skin if and when you follow the instructions on the packet. Since I have sensitive skin I have tried Surgi cream and I'm always happy with the results. I find this cream don't irritate my skin like other brands I have tried. Another plus is that it keeps the hair thin and natural looking.
Surgi-cream is an immediate way for removing facial from hair from cheeks, upper lips and chin. Just apply Surgi-cream, wait for a few minutes and then wash away properly. The cream shows its effect in minimum 4 minutes. The extra gentle formula includes cucumber, Aloe vera and Maple honey which will help preserve moisture in the skin.
Due to its extra gentle formula, the delicate skin gets a relief from the sunburns and irritations. Along with the Surgi-cream hair remover a free Surgi-Soothe Cream is provided. The ingredients included in Surgi-Shoote cream are extracts of citrus, papaya and olives which will aid in reducing the growth of new hair on the skin.
How to use: Clean the skin before using the product and dry smoothly. Apply Surgi-cream hair remover onto the part where you want to remove hair. For best results apply a thick amount of cream on the skin using your fingertips and wait for about 4 minutes. In any case do not exceed 8 minutes as it will harm your skin and may cause sunburns.
You need to take some precautions while using this product. If you are unsure if this cream is right for your skin just perform a test on a small area and see how it goes. Use it only to get rid of facial hair and don't apply it near eyes, eyebrows or lips. If the cream touches any of these areas, remove it immediately with plenty of cold water. Also don't use it if your skin is irritated.
I have read many reviews about this product before deciding to buy it and although most reviews are positive I found that some consumers were unhappy because:
1. The product is too harsh for those with really sensitive skin.
2. Didn't remove hair very well.
You know your skin better than anybody so if your skin has reacted badly to hair removers before maybe you should try a different method like waxing or shaving.
2. Veet Gel Hair Remover Cream with Essential Oils
Veet facial hair removal cream with essential oils was essentially formulated to eliminate body hair in an effective manner. Its formula includes a blend of essential oils from plants and scented rose that will leave the skin moisturized and smelling great. Despite having essential oils on its formula, it will no leave the skin feeling greasy.
The cream is dermatologist-tested and is packed in a pump bottle with a spatula that makes the cream easy to use. The manufacturer claims that it removes hair from the root in as little as 3 minutes but that's not always the case because depending on the length and thickness it can take longer to remove hair. In my experience sometimes more than one application, one day apart, will be needed to remove hair completely.
This cream is recommended to remove hair from the legs, knees, ankles, arms and bikini line. Be careful if you use it on your underarms as sometimes it can burn this area if you have sensitive skin or you leave it for too long. If you want to use it on the bikini line, a good tip is to apply the cream twice for better results as the hair on the bikini area is thicker and therefore hard to remove in one use.
Another tip you could try is to remove the remaining hairs under the shower with an exfoliating glove, but don't rub hard as this could damage the skin. I would recommend avoiding using it on face especially if your skin belongs to the sensitive type, instead try Premium Facial Hair Remover Threading Spring by Complete Skin.
Before using Veet hair remover cream on any part of the body, do read the precautions carefully and note down the time mentioned there. And don't forget to try the cream on a small area to test its sensitivity.
3. Andrea Visage Clair Gentle Hair Remover for The Face Review
Andrea's Visage Clair Gentle Hair Remover for The Face contains both 2oz of Hair Remover Cream and .5oz of Soothing Cream. This product was designed to remove the soft hairs around a woman's face- the hairs around her lips, hairline, and chin are all up for grabs. However, it can also be used on the legs, arms and stomach, to elicit soft, hair free skin where ever it’s applied. (Though facial use for men is not recommended, as their hair is thicker and more coarse than the typical woman’s, and therefore may not be entirely removed.)
For a customer with sensitive skin, or one with a disinclination towards sharp odors, this cream is a good buy for body hair removal. All you have to do is apply the cream to the necessary area, wait for 6-8 minutes, and then remove it. After this, you can apply the soothing cream on the area, to reduce any irritation caused by the hair removal. If the directions are followed properly, the customer will be left with little to no hair on the area, and the few hairs that remain can be easily removed with tweezers.
Another highlight of this product is that it removes the hair with little to no skin irritation, blotchiness or break outs. Add that to the fact that although the product does smell slightly, in comparison to similar hair removal products, it is practically a rose garden- or if not quite that nice, then at least not a dump.
There are a few downsides to this product, however. It is important to note that if the cream is left on the area for too long it could result in minor irritation. Likewise, if it’s left on for too short a period, the hair will be only partially removed. Make sure you have a timer or a watch nearby if you use this product!
For those who suffer from particularly sensitive skin, it might be a good idea to apply a bit of vaseline on the area before you use the cream, just as a safeguard against irritation or breakouts. Another unfortunate fact is that although the cream is much faster at hair removal than tweezers would be, the hair does grow back more rapidly than it would after using tweezers. Its also difficult to find this product at a store- but its readily available online for those who can spare the time to type it into google!
