DIY Beauty Sleep In a Bottle

DIY Beauty Sleep In a Bottle

DIY Night Serum

Lately I think I’ve found just the right skin care routine. I’m going to share that later on this week (it’s all DIY products), but today I wanted to share with you one DIY that I’ve been using for some time now and my skin has really responded to it. It’s a super simple product to make-no heat required. The most important thing is to not skimp on each individual ingredient. Get quality oils and you’ll make a quality product that would sell for $100+ in an exclusive skin care line. Let’s get started!

I wanted to create something that would deeply nourish my skin during the dry winter months. My moisturizer works well in the morning but my skin just needed more. I also need something that will even my skin tone and soften wrinkles. I use this product at night only. I find 5-7 drops is all I need. In the morning, my skin feels completely hydrated and baby smooth!

I know I use rosehip seed oil a lot but there’s a reason for that. It is probably the #1 best oil for aging skin.

  • Penetrates deep into the skin
  • Regenerates skin cells
  • Increases collagen production
  • Rich in Vitamin C
  • Rich in fatty acids
  • Restores skin’s elasticity
  • Fades age/sun spots
  • Reduces broken capillaries
  • Moisturizes

The next oil I’ve added is jojoba oil. I love jojoba oil. For those of you that are leery of using oil on your skin, jojoba oil is the perfect oil for you. It is often suggested for oilier skin types because it is the closest oil to our natural skin’s sebum. It gives our pores the memo that they do not need to over produce oil. If you’re dry, it simply nourishes the skin. When in doubt, use jojoba oil-that’s my new motto.

  • Antibacterial
  • Non-greasy
  • High Vitamin E content
  • Non-Comedogenic (won’t clog pores)
  • Anti Inflammatory
  • Moisturizing
  • Calming

Pomegranate Seed Oil is a new oil for me but such a beneficial oil for anti aging. It’s a close 2nd to rosehip seed oil, in my opinion.

  • Increases collagen production
  • Protects existing collagen
  • High Vitamin C content
  • Restores elasticity
  • Balances pH
  • Improves Skin Tone
  • Healing/calming
  • Moisturizes
  • Penetrates deeply
  • High Antioxidant content

Non-GMO Vitamin E oil is a no-brainer. Do yourself a favor-buy a 2-4 ounce bottle of Vitamin E oil and add it to every DIY you make (that is not water based). Vitamin E is an antioxidant. It’s anti aging powers are well known and the perfect booster for this treatment.

As far as essential oils, I stuck with my go-tos. Lavender and Geranium are excellent for the skin. Geranium is my favorite anti aging essential oil. You can read more about that HERE. Lavender is calming as well as beautifying. Other anti aging essential oils you could add are Carrot Seed, Neroli , or Rose.

DIY Night Serum

2 teaspoons Jojoba Oil (find it HERE)

1 teaspoon Pomegranete Seed Oil (find it HERE)

1 ounce dropper bottle (find it HERE) or a case HERE.

  1. Add each oil to a 1 ounce dropper bottle.
  2. Gently shake.
  3. Press 5-7 drops into your skin, neck and chest after removing makeup and toning. Cleanse skin as usual in the AM.

I’m going to do something different for this post. Since I’m really urging you to buy QUALITY oils, I have totaled what it will cost to get started on this DIY and also figured out how many bottles you can make from your investment!

So, if you buy each of these ingredients (5ml sizes in essential oils and the 8 ounce size of rosehip) you will spend about $100. BUT-you will be getting 16 bottles of your handmade night treatment! That’s $6.25 per bottle! Wow. Did I mention you are only using 5-7 drops a night? Your 1 ounce serum will last quite a while. What a nice gesture for your friends, mom, sisters, neighbors etc.! Hey, everyone should love organic, handmade skin care, come on! Oh and, these type of oils

(as long as they are kept out of light) will last over a year or more.

Of course you’re going to want to create a label for your new high-end skin treatment! I used THESE labels and uploaded the picture below to the Avery website.

Stay tuned for my new skin care routine that includes this treatment!
