5 Natural DIY Beauty Recipes for Homemade Glamour!

We all want to look our best, but sometimes that’s hard to do on a budget. Hair and skin products can be expensive at the store, and not only that, but many of them contain artificial ingredients, quite a few of which are questionable in terms of health and safety. That’s why natural homemade recipes are so great. DIY beauty is more affordable, and it’s healthier! Here are 5 completely natural recipes which can help you clear up your skin and add some shine and body to your hair.

1. Homemade Hair Conditioning Rinse.

Homemade hair conditioning rinse can improve the texture, shine, and body of your hair, making it softer, fuller and even bringing out color. To make it, you’ll need some apple cider vinegar and herbs. Some of the best herbs you can use for any hair type include lavender, rosemary, thyme, and sage. Note that rosemary can darken hair. You can use chamomile and calendula with a bit of lemon juice to lighten hair. If you do some research, you can find other herbs you can optionally include in your mix.

Boil enough apple cider vinegar to fit inside a glass jar (like an old salsa jar) on the stove, and then add in a handful of herbs. Allow the herbs to boil and infuse the apple cider vinegar, and then remove the mixture from the stove. You can pour the mixture through a colander to remove the herbs if you don’t want them getting in your hair, but leaving them in allows the mixture to continue steeping, so it’s up to you. Pour the finished result into your jar, seal it, and put it in the fridge.

After a couple of weeks, it will be perfect to use. Simply pour a couple spoonfuls into a glass, mix with water, and then pour over your head when you’re finished washing your hair. If you can leave the mixture in, you’ll get the best results. Don’t worry about the smell of the apple cider vinegar; it will go away when your hair dries.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar Acne Toner

Apple cider vinegar is known as an overall cure-all for good reason; it’s a great anti-bacterial agent. It can do amazing things for not only your hair, but also your skin. Here is a simple recipe for a homemade acne toner which uses ACV as a base.

Whisk together ¼ cup raw honey, 1 cup of brewed green tea, and ½ cup of apple cider vinegar in a bowl. Put it into a container you can seal closed, and you’re set to go. To apply, just use a cotton ball and swab it onto your face in problem areas as needed. This mixture not only will kill bacteria, but also help your skin to recover from acne scars and may reduce the effects of age.

3. Beer Rinse for Lifeless Hair.

Did you know that beer hops aren’t just delicious and refreshing, but that they’re also great for your hair? If your hair is lifeless and lays flat without a lot of body (this happens to women who have really fine hair), beer may be the perfect cure. Here’s a quick and easy recipe for a rinse which you can use to inject some life back into your locks.

Pour half a cup of beer and let it sit so that it goes flat. A couple of hours should cut it. Mix this in with a teaspoon of olive oil and one raw egg. Once the mixture is prepared, add it to your damp hair after you shower, and then leave it alone for fifteen minutes. Rinse it out thoroughly, wait for it to dry, and be impressed by the results. Alternately, you can just put some flat beer in a spray bottle and use it on dry hair whenever you’d like. You’ll smell like beer, but it’ll strengthen your hair.

4. Homemade Makeup Foundation.

Depending on the shade you want, this could be a one step process! Cornstarch is a perfectly workable makeup foundation. It is white, so if you have pale skin (or are trying to have pale skin), it works just fine on its own. If you want to achieve a different shade that matches your skin tone more closely, you can add in cocoa powder and cinnamon powder, gradually mixing until you get a shade that you like. This type of foundation will still be a loose powder, so if you want it to be a compact powder, you can add a couple drops of a healthy essential oil like lavender. Store in a close tin and open with care, as this stuff can be messy, especially if you leave it as a loose powder mixture.

5. Milk and Honey Bath.

Milk and Honey Bath

Ever wonder how Cleopatra got to be so striking that she’s still held up as a model of feminine beauty thousands of years later? She bathed in milk and honey. And water, of course. You too can bathe like Cleopatra, by pouring 1-2 cups of milk (use whole milk only, not the half-fat or skim milk) and ½ cup of honey into a warm bath. Mix it up so that it disperses, and then climb inside. Milk contains lactic acid, which exfoliates, and honey moisturizes and softens your skin.

There are other things you can add to your bath to make it even more effective. Try filling a nylon sock with ½ cup of oatmeal, tying it at the top, and then putting it in your bath. Squeeze the sock to disperse the oatmeal nutrients into the water. You can

also scrub your body with the sock to make sure you get the full benefit.

Now you know five easy and fun recipes for DIY natural beauty. All of them use simple, accessible ingredients you can buy at the grocery store, assuming they aren’t already in your kitchen. With these recipes you can have gorgeous skin and stunning hair, all without breaking the bank or using products with unhealthy chemical products.
