Hair is either a blessing, a curse, or somewhere inbetween. But whatever it is, there’s always a way to improve, style, and manage it. And whether that’s through styling hacks or using the right product, the hair care tips are almost endless.
I’ve always had long thick, yet fine hair.. which makes it a bit interesting to care for. Fine hair means you have thin strands.. which means your hair gets tangled up easily. And when there’s a lot of it, combing out your bedhead can be an interesting task. But thankfully I’ve found great hair care tips that have helped me manage it the best I can.. even if it still ends up breaking off easily and getting everywhere (fine hair problems).
And no matter what type of hair you have, there’s always a hack or a fix for keeping it under control. So check out these awesome lists of hair care tips and styling hacks and see what works for you!

9 Genius Tips to Save Color-Damaged Hair

Use thermal protectant beforehand if you’re going to use heat for styling. You probably shouldn’t use heat since your hair is already damaged from coloring, but this will help if you want to curl or straighten your hair.
Use a clarifying shampoo to lighten up your color if it comes out too dark. And if it’s too light, find a color that’s a shade darker, but keep it in for half of the recommended time. Check up on it every 5 minutes and wash it out once it’s reached the color you want.
Use Clarifying shampoo if you have dyed hair. All shampoos clean your hair, but clarified is more intense and will get more of the dirt and gunk out that’s built up from styling products.

17 Useful Hair Tricks for Anyone that Uses a Hair Straightener
The highest you should ever set your flat iron should be at 365°F, but if you have fine hair, the temperature should stay around 300 and 325 degrees. Now why should you do this? Well hair burns at 451°F… or the same temperature as paper. So keep that heat under control!
Know what hair straightener to use. Ceramic allows for an even distribution of heat, and has a lower potential to burn hair. Just make sure it’s fully ceramic because ceramic plating can chip and snag hair. Titanium heats up and transfers heat

18 Life-Changing Hacks for Curly Hair
Before you step into the shower, go ahead and apply a deep conditioner. Then get a shower cap and tuck it all in. While you’re washing your body, the steam from the shower will help the moisture from the conditioner to soak up and lock into your hair. Then you can finish up and wash out your hair as normal.
Apply conditioner and comb through your hair while in the shower. This will prevent your hair from becoming frizzy like when you comb your hair after getting out.
Instead of a towel, use a T-shirt to wring your hair out. The T-shirt will help prevent tangles and frizz, but a towel will take in too much moisture from your hair and cause frizziness. Also, the T-shirt will keep your curls smooth once completely dry.

15 Myths We Have All Believed and the Truth Behind Them
So a few of these surprised me. I had always been told that cutting the ends of your hair (the split ends) can make it grow longer. It never made sense to me, but I went with it because everyone was telling me that. Turns out, it’s not true (I knew it!)
Also, dandruff can be caused by oily hair? This one really surprised me. Apparently, it’s caused by Malassezia (a yeast) which grows in oily environments. So dandruff can be a symptom of Malassezia.

27 Underrated Hair Products that Actually Work
Now I love lists of products that can help me get healthier more manageable hair. And Buzzfeed curated an awesome list.
One of the products that stood out to me was the Devacurl Ultra Defining Gel (what the girl in the photo above used). Now I may not have her type of hair, but I know plenty of you out there do. The girl just let her hair air dry with the product in and got an amazing finish. No damaging curling irons needed.
Next would be the Ogz Biotin & Collagen Shampoo. I love Ogz and this shampoo is great for dry and thinning colored hair.
And Lastly, I am all about the Wet Brush. My hair gets into horrible knots after a shower, so this brush will be a savior. No more ripping out my hair and getting it everywhere.
